Open water blogging
Ivan woke up early on March 11, 2009. He was starting his Open Water PADI course today. The course is expected to last 4 days. He had breakfast at the hotel off egg on toast with baked beans. The PADI course partly was taking place in the El Galleon Resort pool. Jennifer and I woke up. I started working on the blog. We saw Ivan learning things in the pool.
It was a small class of two people total. He had two instructors and one who was training to be an instructor.
Ivan got an hour and a half lunch break. We walked to Tamarind Restaurant for lunch. I ordered a banana sandwich. Ivan got a mushroom soup and a tuna sandwich. Jennifer ordered the sweet and sour chicken. The food was alright here. Jennifer thought the sweet and sour sauce was actually tomato based.
Ivan used the internet for a short while. Then, he went back to his diving course. Jennifer used the internet. She helped me with the blog posts. Ivan finished his course at 4:45 pm.
We walked towards the restaurants on the beach. We chose Eddie’s. But, right by the beach there was an awful sewage smell. So, we walked next door to the Garden of Eden. Mike told me that this restaurant has a great banana soup but you had to ask for it. I ordered the banana soup with the waiter. Jennifer got a chicken taco. The taco was huge and tasted real good.
Ivan had the sizzling chili shrimp which was okay. I enjoyed my banana soup – it was really creamy!
Ivan woke up early again for his PADI course on March 12, 2009. It started at 9:30 am. Jennifer and I worked on the blog. I was so behind on the blog. Jennifer also used the internet when I was taking a break.
Ivan was hungry so he didn’t want to walk far for lunch. We ended up eating at the resort’s restaurant. Ivan ordered a fish soup and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He’s never had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich before. I asked if they could make a peanut butter and banana sandwich for me. The waitress said it was fine. Jennifer ordered a chicken salad. It’s not listed on the menu but they will make it for you. The food was great. Jennifer loved the salad.
I worked on the blog more. Ivan got back from his course at 4:50 pm.
Ivan wanted to eat at China Moon restaurant again. So, we walked there for dinner. I had the Tom Yum soup with bananas. Ivan and Jennifer both ordered the shrimp dish which comes with quail eggs, celery, peanuts and green peppers. This time the dish didn’t come with quail eggs.
Ivan asked about this and they ran out of eggs. My dish was spicy and tasty. Ivan and Jennifer enjoyed their dish. Ivan said it was better with the quail eggs though. This is a great restaurant. The chef comes out and asks if you like your meal.
