Puerto Princesa, Palawan
Ivan, Jennifer and I checked out of Pearl Lane on the morning of February 5, 2009. It was another overcast day in Manila. We got a ride to the airport. Our flight to Puerto Princesa, on the island of Palawan in the Philippines left at 8:30 am.
The flight was an hour long. When we arrived there was a military band playing.
There must have been military personnel on one of the flights that landed. We grabbed our backpacks. We had a car waiting for us from the Bed and Breakfast we were staying at.
We checked in at the Puerto Pension Bed and Breakfast. A lady brought over a sweet drink for Ivan and Jennifer. The rooms were real nice.
The weather was cloudy and sunny. Lunch was at the Bed and Breakfast. The cafe is on the top floor. It had a wonderful view of the beach. I got Pancit (glass noodles) with Bananas. Ivan ordered the french onion soup and tuna belly. Jennifer got chicken sandwich with fries. The food was pretty nice. We chilled in our room watching television.
We stopped at Ka Lui for dinner. You must leave your shoes at the door.
The restaurant is decorated with local art and things shaped like fish. Jen ordered the shrimp dish while Ivan got the fish dish.
I went for a fish and banana dish. The three course meal started off with a corn soup. Then our main course came. Jennifer forgot to ask if the shrimp came with the shells. Unfortunately it didn’t, so she had to peel the shells off. Dessert came out last. It was half of a coconut shell filled with a variety of fruits. The food tasted really good.
Ivan wanted to check out a bar. We asked a tricycle driver for a good bar. He recommended Phoenix. We walked in and it was pretty empty. They did have karaoke available. Ivan and Jennifer ordered some drinks. I got a banana shake. Ivan sang a bunch of songs. I think he’s hooked on karaoke now.
Jennifer also sang a few songs. It was fun listening to Ivan and Jennifer sing. Other people sang boring love songs. Filipino love their love songs.
