Supperclub

Ivan, Jennifer and I had lunch at Pasta de Waraku on May 2, 2009.  It’s a Japanese casual pasta and cafe restaurant.  We’ve never heard of any restaurant like that.  Ivan had a salmon hot pot while Jennifer ordered a chicken and egg noodle soup. I had pasta dish with pesto, chicken and bananas.  The food was really good. We went shopping on Bugis Street.  There’s a mall there and also a market right nearby.  Ivan bought some t-shirts.  Jennifer’s feet hurt.  We took a taxi back to the hotel. We got ready for dinner.  Tonight, we’d be checking out…

Couchsurfing Party and Dancing

Ivan, Jennifer and I had lunch at Komala’s on April 30, 2009.  Ivan had a paper dosa.  I had a banana naan again.  Jennifer got paratha with masala dip.  Jennifer’s meal came with a dessert which is a pastry ball in a syrup.  The food was yummy. We chilled at the hostel for most of the day.  I worked on the blog. We got ready for the couchsurfing party.  It was a going away party for a couchsurfer named Joel.  He’s a guy from New Zealand.  We took a taxi to the party.  We had to walk around to find…

A Walking Tour

Ivan, Jennifer and I took a taxi to the Chinatown MTR on April 29, 2009.  We had lunch at the Subway in the mall.  We were going to meet a couchsurfer named Ila who was going to take us on a walking tour. We met Ila outside the Chinatown MTR station.  She was with a couchsurfer guy who’s from France.  I can’t recall his real name, but it sounded like Toothpick so that’s what Ivan called him.  Ila started taking us around Chinatown.  We walked to a park. Chinatown is very colorful with lots of great buildings.    The French…

Sushi, Shopping and Dancing

Ivan, Jennifer and I checked out of the Equator Hostel on April 17, 2009.  We left our backpacks at hostel.  We walked across the street to the Times Square Mall.  Ivan and Jennifer both had a noodle dish with chicken.  I had a noodle soup dish with bananas.  It was good. Ivan and I went to the theme park.  It’s the largest indoor theme park in Malaysia.  It’s weird that it’s located inside the mall.  We rode a couple rides.  It was fun!  Ivan didn’t think it was thrilling enough though.  Jennifer didn’t feel like going on rides.  She went…

Ivan, Jennifer and I had lunch at Ninja Crepes on April 14, 2009.  Ivan and Jennifer had fish cakes for an appetizer.  It was the first time they had it in Thailand.  Ivan was glad he finally got to eat some!  We all got noodles dishes.  It was very good food! It was very, very humid today.  We chilled by the hotel pool for most of the day.  Ivan and Jennifer went swimming and also read.  I took a nice monkey nap.  Ivan took a short nap as well. We hopped into a taxi headed to Bellini’s.  It’s a nice…

Ice Monkey

Ivan, Jennifer and I had to wake up at 9:30 am on April, 10, 2009.  We were picked up at 10 am.  We were headed to Ko Samui.  We were all tired from the lack of sleep and partying from the Full Moon Party the night before.  We arrived at the ferry station.  Ivan traded our paper to get a ferry ticket.  The boat was supposed to leave at 11 am.  The boat wasn’t even at the station yet.  We left at 12 pm.  The ferry ride was crowded.  We sat on the floor of the boat outside.  The ride…

Ivan, Jennifer and I had lunch at Moon Dolphin restaurant on April 9, 2009.  Ivan had the spicy Pad-seaw with chicken.  Jen had the Pad-seaw with chicken.  I had a stir fried chicken with bananas and cashew nuts. The food was real good again. I worked on the blog with Jennifer.  I had gotten so behind on the blog.  Sometimes, I forget to do it or I’m just not in the mood. We checked out Mushy Mountain.  Ivan said we’d come back before the Full Moon Party.  Full Moon Party is a party held every month on the night of…

Halong Bay trip

Sometimes I have trouble writing the blog posts.  So, I can get a bit behind.  Jennifer said I have Writer’s Block.  But, I call it Banana Block since I can’t keep thinking of bananas. Ivan, Jennifer and I had to wake up extra early on the morning of November 14, 2008.  We were picked up at 8 am for our 3 day Halong Bay boat trip.  Jennifer and I packed last night.  She made sure she had enough clothes and of course bananas for me.  We climbed aboard the bus.  It was a group of 15 people and one monkey. …

A Monkey good time!

We had some lunch at the 7th Heaven Cafe on October 22, 2008.  We then walked around town.  Ivan was looking for a place called Monkey Jane’s.  It’s a rooftop bar.  We finally found it.  It has a sign but it’s a little hard to see.  We decided to chill here for a little while.  Ivan and Jennifer had a Liquan beer (local beer).  I had a monkey drink called Monkey Fizz.  It’s basically a banana juice with a fancy name. It’s a great bar with nice scenery of Yangshuo.  We just relaxed while reading magazines and playing games.  Ivan…

More Macau, Train Ride and Guilin

I forgot to mention that I put a video of Ivan sawing wood at the Happy Valley Racecourse.  Check it out on the post called Buddha drinking tea while on a horse or on the video page. We wanted to see more of Macau.  We had some sandwiches right by the hostel on October 14, 2008. The cafe had some awesome egg custard tarts. They’re even more delicious than the ones in Hong Kong! It’s a speciality here in Macau. We decided to check out the Macau Tower. It’s 338 meters tall. We saw the beautiful view at the Outdoor…
